THE FRIENDS OF SOWERBY BRIDGE RAILWAY STATION WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND THANK VARIOUS ORGANISATIONS FOR THEIR CONTINUING SUPPORT OVER RECENT YEARS.
NORTHERN
The funding we received from Northern in 2023/24 has enabled us to renew the planters and floral displays with flowers, plants and compost. This contributed to our achievement of a Gold Award from Yorkshire in Bloom in 2022, with further funding being allocated for 2023. Additional funding has also been approved to repaint our shipping container and to replace a number of worn-out wooden barrel planters with more sustainable ones made from recycled plastic.

CALDERDALE COUNCIL
Ward Forum Grants received from Calderdale Council over the last few years has funded the repainting of the “Planter Train” in the Bronte Garden (off the Manchester Platform), together with the revarnishing of the benches and relaying of gravel to pathways. The grants also cover the provision of new promotional banners to be displayed on the station platforms, as well as plants for the garden and new totems on the station.
LUCY ZODION
The Friends of Sowerby Bridge would like to thank Lucy Zodion for the provision of a second water butt. This will enable the group to ensure the gardens around the station are sufficiently watered during the summer to ensure they look their best.
