Welcome to The Friends of Sowerby Bridge Railway Station
The Group was formed in November 2010 has been in action since December 2010. It was formed by a group of individuals with a desire to ‘breathe new life’ into Sowerby Bridge Railway Station. We work in close partnership with Northern Rail and currently have membership, of around 70 volunteers.
Our objectives are to improve the station for the benefit of all its users and to attract more visitors (and custom) to the town (See Aims & Objectives).
The Group holds monthly ‘Open’ meetings where anyone can come along to find out about our projects and initiatives, (see Calendar)
There are regular ‘Work Together’ sessions on a Saturday morning, where volunteers tidy up the station; maintain the flower tubs and generally ‘maintain’ the area.
The Group is led by Christopher Wright (Convenor) who runs the Jubilee Refreshment Rooms at the station
